Interesting Developments

It looks like Martin has a new job.

I've been following his weblog for quite some time, particularly his commentary on version control systems, and I've always been impressed with his insights on the matter. He seems to have a breadth of knowledge of various version control systems that surpasses that of anyone I know, and that includes many people who are paid to work on them. It'll be interesting to see what someone like this can come up with when they sit down and put their mind to it.

Whlie I'm still not totally sold of the advantages of distributed version control systems versus centralized ones I think that if anyone can make a distributed system I'd want to use it's Martin.

Should Have Stayed In San Mateo...

So as we left JFK this morning it seemed clear that everyone was thinking just about the same thing...

We should have stayed in San Mateo.

But no, we shifted plans around at the last minute yesterday and flew out right after work, ending up getting in to JFK at about 5AM this morning, all in an attempt to avoid flying right into the snow storm that's currently hitting the north east. I must say, it's impressive watching Mark and Kan make travel plans at the last minute, they've clearly done this far too many times.

The week in San Mateo was a good one though, I got to spend a lot of time with the team out there, which is a good thing since I'm going to be working with them closely in the future. I also got to hang out with Louis and Chris, which is always fun, those guys are far too amusing to live so far away, something needs to be done about that.

Anyway, now that I'm back in the frigid north east I'm going to have to return to my policy of avoiding the outdoors at all costs, it's just too damn cold out there. At least I don't have anywhere to go for the rest of the weekend...

mod_speedyfeed 0.06 - Bugfix Release

It's been way too long since I played with this stuff, but here's a new release of mod_speedyfeed.

The primary changes are to fix a bug Kellan (of laughingmeme.org) found with the If-Modified-Since support. It didn't work when you sent multiple fragments in your If-Modified-Since header, and quotes around the If-Modified-Since value would confuse it. I'm not sure if the quotes are really legal, but supporting them was trivial once I had the code to fix the first problem, so now quoting the value works.

There are also some fixes to the tests on systems with older Apache::Test installs or versions of Apache that don't include atom in their default mime.types file.

Get it while it's hot, at the usual place.
