Both are near future, mostly plausible sci-fi. I read Halting State around this time last year, and I couldn't put it down. I'm reading Daemon right now, and I can't wait to finish it.
I started reading Anathem a few months ago with a library copy, but I took a break when it had to go back. I got my own copy for Christmas, so I plan to resume when I finish Daemon. I took a break from the Baroque Cycle shortly after I read a bit of Volume 1 when it first came out. I own all three volumes, so I want to give it another try at some point. Supposedly the Sci-Fi Channel is working on a movie version of Diamond Age.
(BTW, your blog is showing me the time in Pacific Time.)
