Making The Move

so i figure that since my free month is up, and i'm pretty satisfied with typepad so far, i'm going to take the plunge and move over. my blog's new location will soon be at, so head on over there in the future. as soon as they get their domain mapping working (it's planned for early september, i'll think about pointing this URL over there, and for those of you using the rss feed, i'll be installing a permanent redirect in my apache config once i've finished the migration.

thanks blosxom, it's been fun, but the lure of typepad is just too much for me...

  1. What do you find that's so good about TypePad? I was a beta tester, but I didn't get around to checking it much.

  2. Basically I like the config utility, I like the fact that someone other than me is looking after the server and thus I'm less likely to break it, and in general it seems to give me all the things I want my weblog tool to do without me needing to worry about it all that much.
Blosxom gave me most of what I wanted, but it also meant that I pretty much had to be willing to get intimate with the code from time to time. On one hand, that means I could make it do whatever my heart desired, but on the other hand it can be a bit of a pain.
Plus, TypePad is shiny and new, so there's that little bit of irrational appeal built in ;-)

  3. I'm glad to hear TypePad meets your standards! And we've found while building TypePad that we liked it for the same reasons... being able to just work on your blog without having to maintain the server and stuff makes a big difference. Welcome to the community.
