TiVo Rocks

So it goes without saying of course, but TiVo kicks ass. It's so much cooler than ReplayTV that it isn't even funny. Worth every penny, and I didn't even have to bend over backwards to find a phone line to do the initial guided setup. I should have done this a long time ago.

  1. Tell us more... What do you like better about TIVO?

  2. The biggest thing TiVo has that ReplayTV didn't is the fact that it will proactively go out and record stuff it thinks you might like, so you're able to come home and find a bunch of random stuff to watch. This means that when you're just watching TV to kill time (as opposed to having some particular show you wanted to watch) you're more likely to be able to find something that TiVo has recorded, and thus you end up watching more things you might be interested in, as opposed to with the ReplayTV where you end up doing the usual channel surfing.
Also, the UI of TiVo is quite a bit cooler than the ReplayTV. The whole thing feels more responsive, and it feels like they really thought about the features that would be useful (like the fact that TiVo has a screen that tells you what shows you're going to record for the next few days), where ReplayTV just feels more clunky and less well thought out.
